Cabernet Grapes look like Art in Alexander Valley

The HANNA vineyards are truly an art! All the different colors and sizes of the grapes just make you smile :)
  

The Vanguard

I walked two Rows of our new Malbec Vineyard in Alexander Valley Thursday afternoon and found only these four berries had begun the transformation from sour, hard and sugarless peas into the sweet, intensely colored delicacies we will harvest in two months. Malbec is usually the first of the Bordeaux varieties to begin verasion. This color change gives winemakers a jolt, reminding us that crush is near.
  

Barn owl box

We installed several owl boxes last year at our Hanna Red Ranch in Alexander Valley. Judging by the number of Pellets below the box we have one well fed Barn Owl. ( diet is mostly voles and gophers) this neo-traditional method of vertebrate control eliminates the need to trap or bait in established vineyards.
