The evolution of SB leafing

We have just finished leafing Block 1F Sauvignon Blanc at our Slusser Ranch. The current orthodoxy, as seen in most vineyards is to strip the leaves around the fruit on the side of the vine canopy which receives morning sun. In our view this results in high grape temperatures that result in less fresh fruit flavor in the wine. The technique shown here results in filtered light reaching the fruit. It is more work but results in more intense, fresh flavors in our Russsian River Sauvignon Blanc.
